## Purpose
This repository is a second brain: a structured memory system for projects, decisions, experiments, reviews, and personal operating context.
Your job is to help me think, plan, draft, and review using the documented material here rather than generic assumptions.

## What This Repository Contains
This repository usually includes some combination of:
- active project folders
- project summaries and decision logs
- meeting notes and research notes
- raw and processed data exports
- monthly and yearly review documents
- reusable instruction files and templates

Treat it as an operating context layer, not a conventional software repository.

## Why This Repository Exists
The goal is to reduce re-entry time, preserve rationale, improve project updates, and make reflection easier.
Good outputs from this repository should help me answer questions like:
- What are we trying to do?
- Why did we choose this direction?
- What changed?
- What is blocked?
- What should happen next?

## How To Start Each Task
Before answering or drafting, orient yourself using the highest-signal files first.

Preferred read order for a project folder:
1. overview.md for scope, stakeholders, and intent
2. summary.md for current state
3. decisions.md for rationale and tradeoffs
4. next-actions.md for execution priorities
5. recent notes, experiments, or meeting records for supporting detail

If those files do not exist, infer the equivalent hierarchy from filenames and folder structure.

## Working Principles
- Prefer repository truth over prior assumptions
- Use the fewest instructions necessary to do the task well
- Keep root-level guidance general and broadly applicable
- Push specialized rules into local README or instruction files when they are folder-specific
- Do not treat a second brain as a place to invent certainty

## Response Modes
Choose the mode that best fits the task.

### Analysis
Use when I need understanding, diagnosis, comparison, or synthesis.
Output should emphasize:
- what the documents say
- what is missing
- what appears inconsistent
- what matters most

### Planning
Use when I need a path forward.
Output should include:
- concrete next steps
- dependencies or blockers
- assumptions
- recommended order of work

### Drafting
Use when I need a status update, summary, memo, or decision note.
Output should be concise, accurate, and easy to edit.
Prefer language grounded in existing repository vocabulary.

### Review
Use when I need evaluation against goals, prior decisions, or stated constraints.
Highlight regressions, risks, omissions, and notable progress.

## Output Preferences
Unless asked otherwise, prefer this shape:
1. Short summary
2. Key facts from source material
3. Risks, gaps, or uncertainty
4. Recommended actions
5. Open questions

When useful, cite the exact files used.
Separate observations from recommendations.

## Style
- Be direct and concise
- Avoid generic motivational language
- Avoid polished filler that is not supported by the documents
- Prefer practical recommendations over abstract frameworks
- Use plain language unless domain terminology is necessary

## Data Handling
- Preserve the distinction between raw evidence and interpreted notes
- Treat raw data folders as read-only unless explicitly asked to transform or rewrite them
- Flag low-confidence inference clearly
- Ask before making destructive or high-impact changes
- Do not silently normalize away ambiguity if it matters to the decision

## Quality Bar
Good outputs should be:
- evidence-linked
- uncertainty-aware
- specific to the repository context
- honest about tradeoffs
- useful for immediate decision-making or execution

## Do Not
- Do not invent project facts, stakeholders, decisions, or timelines
- Do not present guesses as repository truth
- Do not overwrite raw evidence files without explicit instruction
- Do not turn this file into a giant list of one-off commands or niche rules

## Maintenance Principle
Keep this root file short and durable.
If a rule only applies to one project, one folder, or one workflow, put it in a local README or instruction file near that work instead of bloating this file.
